India Records 2,828 New Covid-19 Cases, Spike In Active Cases Continues

Of the 14 deaths, only one was reported in last 24 hours and 13 were previously unreported deaths reconciled to Kerala's toll.

India on Sunday reported 2,828 new coronavirus infections and 14 deaths, according to the Union health ministry. 

Of the 14 deaths reported on Sunday, only one was reported in the last 24 hours in Jharkhand and the rest 13 were previously unreported deaths reconciled to Kerala's death toll. 

With Sunday's figures, India's Covid-19 tally rose to 4,31,53,043 and death toll climbed to 5,24,586.

The active cases increased to 17,087, comprising 0.04 per cent of the total infections, with an increase of 779 cases in the last 24 hours — a spike on the second day straight. On Saturday, the health ministry reported active cases rising by 494.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.56 per cent.

The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent. The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,26,11,370, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 per cent. 

The cumulative coronavirus vaccine doses administered in the country so far have exceeded 193.28 crore, as per government data.
