Earthquake Of 3.8 Magnitude Hits Haryana, Tremors Felt In Delhi And Surrounding Areas

There were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to properties from the earthquake. This is the latest earthquake to have been felt in Delhi and the surrounding regions in North India since November.

Tremors were felt in Delhi and the surrounding regions in North India early on Sunday as an earthquake of 3.8 magnitude struck Haryana. 

The earthquake struck Haryana at 01:19 am at a depth of 5 km in Jhajjar district, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). 

The earthquake comes on the first day of the new year 2023. There were no immediate report of any damages. 

"There is no report of any loss of life or damage to property due to the quake so far," reported state-run All India Radio (AIR) on Twitter.

An earthquake of this magnitude is "often felt but rarely cause damage", according to the Canadian Natural Resources Ministry.

This is the latest earthquake to have been felt in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) since November. On November 9, an earthquake of 6.3  magnitude struck Nepal. On November 12, another earthquake of magnitude 5.4 struck Nepal.
