Hailing Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress veteran leader Salman Khurshid said that Gandhi is “like a yogi doing his 'tapasya' with focus”.

Linking Congress to 'Bharat' and Rahul Gandhi to 'Lord Ram', Khurshid said, "Rahul Gandhi is superhuman. While we are freezing in the cold and wearing jackets, he is going out in T-Shirts (for his Bharat Jodo Yatra). He is like a yogi doing his 'tapasya' with focus," reports ANI.

Drawing references from Ramayana, he further added how when Lord Ram's 'khadau' is not able to reach places, Bharat takes the 'khadau' and goes to places. "Like that, we have carried the 'khadau' in Uttar Pradesh. Now that 'khadau' has reached Uttar Pradesh. Ram ji (Rahul Gandhi) will also come," he added.

However, calling out Khurshid's comment, BJP's Shehzad Poonawalla said, "Salman Khurshid equates Rahul Gandhi to Bhagwan Shri Ram, himself to Bharat!! Shocking! Would he dare compare anyone to other God of other religions? After denying Ram ji existence, blocking Ram Mandir now insult of Hindu Astha! Does Janeudhari Rahul agree with this?"

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi-led 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', saying that the Partition of India took place at the time of the Congress leader's forefathers.

"The yatra which Rahul Gandhi has undertaken to unite or (rather) disunite India... that India was never partitioned after 1947. The Partition of India took place at the time of his grandfather, when Pakistan was formed, and subsequently Bangladesh was formed," Chaudhary told reporters.
