CBI Arrests 2 Insurance Company Officials For Taking Bribe

The surveyor allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 12 lakh for releasing the complainant's insurance claim of his factory and to prevent filing appeal in higher court, a CBI Spokesperson said.

The CBI on Wednesday arrested two officials of an insurance company for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh, officials said. 

N S Sidhu, insurance surveyor, and J K Mittal, regional manager, both from the New India Assurance Company, were arrested in Chandigarh as part of a trap in which former was caught red handed, they said. 

The surveyor allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 12 lakh for releasing the complainant's insurance claim of his factory and to prevent filing appeal in higher court, a CBI Spokesperson said.

"Searches are being conducted today at the premises of both accused at Chandigarh and Panchkula which have so far led to recovery of some documents related to investment and keys of lockers etc," the spokesperson said.
