Begunkodor Railway Station: West Bengal's 'Ghost' Railway Station That Was Closed For Four Decades

The railway station, once included in India's 10 "haunted" stations, was closed in the 1960s and was opened in 2009 after the intervention of Mamata Banerjee, the Union railway minister at the time. Even after reopening, no one stayed there after 5 pm. An investigation by a group of rationalists later found that the locals had created the myth of the station being haunted to boost "ghost tourism".
