Orangised by the Progressive Students' Forum (PSF), the screening has been deemed a symbolic of protest against the government's ban on the film.  It added that their move is in solidarity with student organisations at other college campuses.

Amid the ongoing row around the controversial BBC documentary, a protest broke out at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) on Saturday after students decided to hold the screening of 'India: The Modi Question'.

According to a report by India Today, the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held a protest outside the university campus against the students' plan to screen the controversial documentary on PM Modi.

Orangised by the Progressive Students' Forum (PSF), the screening has been deemed a symbolic of protest against the government's ban on the film.  It added that their move is in solidarity with student organisations at other college campuses.

However, the university administration has said that on Friday it instructed the students to refrain from screening the controversial document. In a notice, the university said, "Any action by students against this advisory will be dealt with strictly as per the rules."

The protest comes amid a series of similar demonstration held across various universities across the country over the screening of the documentary on Gujarat Riots 2002.
