ONGC employee Ritul ­Saikia was ­released by ULFA(I) ­militants in ­Myanmar near its border with ­Nagaland after 31 days in captivity. In the first week of April, ULFA(I) had released two employees of the Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure after three-and-half months of their kidnap.

Evading arrest for nearly three weeks, Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar (37) and his associate Ajay (48) were nabbed in outer Delhi’s Mundka area and remanded in police custody. The arrests are in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl that had led to the death of a wrestler in Delhi.

The doctor who got into trouble with the Andhra Pradesh government, during Covid’s first wave last year, has died of a cardiac arrest. ­Sudhakar, a government doctor, had been ­suspended from service for venting his ire against the non-availability of PPE kits and face masks for medical personnel treating Covid patients.
