  • If someone paid Rs 20 lakh and managed to get into the Indian team, how much profit would he make?

For each Test: Rs 2.7 lakh (match fees + sponsorship money)

For each ODI: Rs 2.21 lakh

While on tour: Tour guarantee fee, which varies from tour to tour. A tour to Australia or England would fetch more than a tour to Zimbabwe or Sri Lanka.

Pocket expenses: US $50 (Rs 2,300) per day

Personal endorsement: Depends on player's status. Tendulkar makes upward of Rs 5 crore for an endorsement; players like Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan made upwards of Rs 50-60 lakh in 2003. Other benefits promotions/cash incentives from employers. Reserve players get the same match fees as the top players.

Estimated income per player from the current Australian tour: Rs 40-45 lakh excluding personal endorsements and bonuses from personal sponsors.
