Why are you allowing child labour at Commonwealth Games-related sites? There are a number of teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16 working at these places, obviously lured by an adult salary.

I entirely agree that there should be no child labour, but these children were abandoned by the states they come from and also by their parents. They have moved to a bigger city only to get jobs that pay.

But can’t you at least ensure that these children don’t work at such sites?

I can’t. Go to the railway station right now, you’ll find them coming in with their little bags of clothing. Child labour can only be controlled if our society becomes more sensitive and caring.

Several human rights and civil society groups are very concerned about the number of homeless people who will be living in Delhi after the games. How does your government plan to deal with this...
