'Take Pitch, Toss Out Of The Equation'
On the work ethic he is espousing
We have to learn to take the toss and the pitch out of the equation so that we do not feel disadvantaged by having to bat first or last on any pitch. I would try and instil a psyche where we go out and fight in each game without thinking about factors beyond our control. Your game is only a reflection of your attitude.
On creating pressure on Pakistan batsmen
Every batsman would like to think he self-destructed but we created that kind of pressure. Zaheer bowled exceptionally well in both innings and bowled with reverse swing. We created pressure by suffocating them.
On his handling of off-spinner Harbhajan Singh in the first Test
As a spin bowler I understand the importance of bowling spells. I can put my hand up and say I'm qualified to take a decision on that. Even I bowled five over and six over spells. It was a pitch that was slow and low, without much bounce. Sometimes I felt the fast bowlers needed to bowl longer spells. But when I gave him [Harbhajan] a long spell he picked up wickets.
On having three former Test captains and the current odi captain in the team
You have seen how they have all performed. Need I say anything? They have all pulled their weight and I think it was a fantastic team performance.
