During Tony Blair’s tenure as Middle East ‘peace’ envoy, Egypt had a military coup, Libya collapsed into anarchy, Syria into terrible civil war, Iraq a little better, the Islamic State created itself, Iran more or less developed a nuclear weapon and Israel made it clear with its settlements that it does not contemplate a two-state solution. Whoever appointed him must have had a sense of humour.
