Let The Games Begin
The present Indo-Pak bonhomie is coming in handy for the Punjab and Haryana CMs. The ‘true champion of Punjabi identity’, Punjab’s Capt Amarinder Singh, recently announced the first ever Indo-Pak Punjab Games, to be held in December at Patiala. Next year, it will move to Lahore. The games will have 300 sportspersons competing in 13 disciplines. Apparently, the idea came after Amarinder’s much hyped trip to Pakistan to attend the World Punjabi Conference. But first it was Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala who took off to Pakistan along with a huge entourage to bring water from Bhai Kanhaiya’s birthplace. For those who haven’t heard of the saint, he was the one who won the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh for giving water even to the fallen enemy on the battlefield. Strong symbolism, eh?
