This magazine hit global headlines in July 2012 when it called Barack Obama an ‘underachiever’ for not living up to his nascent promise. This Christmas, let the record state that Outlook humbly acknowledges that America’s first Black president has finally earned his Nobel Prize for Peace—six years after winning it. He has managed to do so by reaching a nuclear accord with Iran, by opening the doors with Cuba, by pushing the world to a climate accord to save the planet, and by urging his nation to abandon its gun fetish, all in the year of the lord 2015 Baraak-bhai has shown the world that the biggest battles we fight are between our ears. Maybe, it is the burden of not having to fight another election, but in proving us so woefully wrong in his second term, ‘BO’ has demonstrated that a lameduck president is just a lame excuse for inertia. “Yes, we can,” but only if we want it badly enough.
