"I Now Repent Betraying NTR"

Did you assault Sankara Reddy?

Where is the evidence to prove that I assaulted Reddy? The reports which appeared in a section of the press were concocted. They were planted to paint me in a poor light and create a rift between me and the chief minister.

Whom do you suspect for 'planting' such newsreports?

You all know that it was the minister for minor irrigation, B. Gopalakrishna Reddy, who instigated Sankara Reddy to lodge a police complaint against me. I have evidence that district SP Gautam Sawang was instructed by the minister to book a case.

You have accused the chief minister of taking sides. Why?

I stand by what I said. Yes, the party leadership is not justified in viewing it as an act of indiscipline. Naidu could have sought my explanation. He didn't. He is also inaccessible to me on the phone. Hence, I suspect that he has an axe to grind against me. You know that we were good friends till recently. I do have shares in his company—Heritage Foods. Still...

Do you feel let down by the party leadership?

Of course I do. I now repent betraying my god NTR during the August 1995 crisis (when Naidu dethroned NTR). Perhaps, that's the reason why I suffer today. NTR helped me become a film star and encouraged me to take an active part in politics.
