What do Jaya Bachchan and Prahlad Kakkar have in common? An aesthetic eye for the future of art in India. They’ve been buying "art books", a well-regarded form in the West. Priya Pereira, a graphic artist, brings it to the country. She had to go through the grind initially with both book stores and galleries rejecting her work. Hope dawned when Guggenheim Museum, New York, commissioned her and when the V&A, London, as well as the Museum of Modern Art, NY, and the New York Public Library took in her creations. Now with her recent exhibition at the Oxford Book Store she might just catch Mumbai’s eye.
