It’s that time of the year again. Time for year-end parties. This week’s big do was Asian Age editor M.J. Akbar’s sister Ghazala’s wedding to Lokesh Sharma. The star presence included the big guns from the cricket world—Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri...It was an audience of a different sort though at the scintillating evening of Sufi music held recently at Naresh and Madhu Trehan’s home to launch the Asian Heritage Foundation...But the big event in the Capital was the return of the doyen of Indian journalism; Sham Lal’s new book was released last week...Meanwhile, the Monsoon Wedding successfully over, Bollywood is gearing up for a few winter weddings. Fardeen Khan we hear is planning to tie the knot with veejay-turned-actress Amrita Arora, better known as Malaika’s lil sis...TV Queen Ektaa Kapoor too is showing matrimonial inclinations—buzz has it she has an eye for anchor-actor Aman Verma... And what of that other New Year tradition—resolutions for the year? The PM has been threatening to go on a diet. Question is, is January 1, 2002, a good time to begin?
