The kiddie flick of the season is not so much about spine-tingling mystery as it is about making children aware of a social problem—that of trading of young ones. Ava Mukherjee plays the modern-day grandmom who doesn’t just look after the little ones but like Ms Marple pieces together clues, goes about solving a mystery with her innate common sense and eventually sets the world in order. It’s a little girl, staring from a third-floor window, who prompts her to go snooping and unearth a dirty racket. The CID is dismissive, a few friends and grandkids pitch in. But, the film doesn’t quite come alive, the songs and romantic track stretch it out pointlessly. Ava, the granny of many an ad, is model-perfect, more created than real. The kids are as plastic.
