One of the questions troubling modern times is whether women are as capable as men. Women fiercely contend they are. They say anything a man can do a woman can do better.
This question is too important to be decided by prejudice or tradition. It deserves a scientific answer. That is how this columnist will deal with the question.
To prove their equality, women enter the army, learn karate, play soccer and become pugilists. After viewing their performance one can unhesitatingly state that women are not only equal to men, but superior.
I have little doubt that Laila Muhammad Ali could have whipped her Dad when he was in his prime. Just listen to her: "A fighter doesn't stop when she sees blood. It makes you want to keep going!"
Okay. So Laila can box better than Muhammad Ali, and Venus Williams one day will serve harder than Pete Sampras. That shows women have more brawn and skill than men.
But what about brains, ladies? Brawn helps in manual labour. But is manual labour the cream of society? With due respect to intuc, aituc and bms, it is not.
And it is while assessing brain-power that a shocking truth smacks you right between your eyes. What's wrong with women? To be precise, with their brains?
Since the days of the caveman, mothers have cooked for their children. And yet, the world's greatest chefs are men! From the days that man hunted animals and brought home fur, women stitched wearing apparel. For thousands of years they stitched dresses for their daughters.
And yet, the best fashion designers in the world are men. True, some of them lisp while talking, and others look funny while walking. But they are all, indisputably, men.
The final, unquestionable test of brain-power is provided by beauty contests. We've been repeatedly told that if Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai hadn't given those sharp, smart, brainy replies to the judges, they could never have won.
But hell's belles! The current Miss France is a man! And he may be debarred from contesting Miss Universe! Clearly, women are scared of competing against him.
So think hard, ladies. If men make more beautiful and brainy women than women, what's there left to say?
Fetch my dinner, mother of Munna...
You're so burly,
I don't mind shirking
While you're working!
