How far back are you going in the retro?
It will include my works from 1957 to 2001.

How have you managed to break out of "the trap of cliches"?
I've made six major digressions in the last decade, including Retrieving Junk, an installation art with a difference, Mutations, computer-aided morphing of my own paintings, glass sculptures and my current engagement with kitsch.

How do you react to the order on making art compulsory on public buildings?
I think it's absolutely essential.

Are artists still dependent on government patronage?
There used to be a time when this was true. But now private institutional buying, especially hotels, far outstrips government patronage.

How does it feel to be the highest paid artist in India?
This ranking by the price you fetch is odious. In terms of square inch price, Ganesh Pyne would rank first.

What do you think of art becoming a lucrative business?
Kids coming straight out of art schools demand huge sums of money. This is an unfortunate...
