His personal experiences proved to him an overriding thing about Infosys: that the company takes care of its employees whatever the crisis it may be facing. Post 9/11, when Infosys’ bench was growing and new projects were hard to get, Sembi was in a spot while working as a project manager on a client’s site in Brighton, UK. One day, while walking to office, he was verbally abused by four construction engineers and, later, his pregnant wife panicked because of regular problems faced by Asians after the Twin Tower terrorist attacks. "The experience was quite frightening," remembers Sembi.His company immediately lodged a complaint with the client and then, two months later, transferred Sembi to Bangalore. The transfer came despite the fact that finding regular projects for its domestic engineers to work on was getting tough by the day. And the event proved a crucial value system ingrained at all levels within Infosys: the company’ll always be good to its employees.
