He has also got the rural development ministry to sanction a Rs 13-crore project for training in floriculture and pisciculture. A major part of the funds sanctioned by Dasgupta has also gone into development in the areas of health, education and infrastructure. These include construction of roads, installing tubewells and supplying water through pipes. The MP has also focused on education and has had schools and colleges constructed, including the setting up of five schools for the free primary education of village children up to fourth standard. The Ghatal constituency is a flood-prone area and several bridges are being constructed. And to improve rail connectivity, he helped set up two model rail platforms—Panskura and Balichor.

But Dasgupta continues to exercise his powers as an MP to proactively pursue this pro-agricultural policy. And he ensures that local politicians and panchayat members are involved in local development initiatives.
