It remained true to its see-saw destiny—the dawn of the conditional access system (CAS) era was again postponed in Delhi last week. The announcement was made by I&B minister Ravishankar Prasad in the company of Delhi chief ministerial aspirant Madanlal Khurana. The Delhi BJP strongman has of late been against implementing cas in the Capital because there is too much opposition to it from his perceived supporters. Khurana feared that cas could go the onion way and hurt the BJP in the assembly elections. The last straw came when the cable operators threatened to black out his pre-poll ‘parivartan rally’. So, Delhi will have to wait till after the assembly polls, while Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai go ahead with CAS.
