    Captains Speak

“The plan was to bat positively and bat in partnerships. When there are wickets in hand, it becomes easy towards the end and there won't be any pressure of the required rate … This is my hometown and it is a proud moment for me and the team. The overall effort from the team is very pleasing,” said winning captain Babar Azam.

Meanwhile, losing skipper Aaron Finch said: “I think that opening partnership set the foundation for Pakistan and Babar came in and played brilliantly … I thought we did quite well with the ball and when Pakistan took the risks, it came off and it can happen in ODI cricket."

    HUNDRED For Babar Azam

    PAK 238/2 (36)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 10:26 PM

Imam-ul-Haq departs after a well-tailored 106 off 97. He tried to take on Adam Zampa put perished in the process as Marnus Labuschagne took a good catch near boundary rope.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 10:21 PM

    FIFTY For Babar Azam

33.2 - A single and Babar gets to his half-century. This is his 19th in the format. He has looked great today, something what you call a 'vintage' form. Not a good sign for Australia for sure.

8 runs came off the over bowled by Mitchell Swepson.

    PAK 229/1 (34)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 10:09 PM

    CENTURY For Imam-Ul-Haq

That’s the 9th ODI hundred for Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq. He was impressive in the Test series and is also in great touch in the ongoing ODI series. In the first ODI he had scored 103 and now complements it with another ton. Impeccable!

    PAK 215/1 (31.5)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 9:50 PM

    Pakistan Accelerate

14 runs came off the last over that was bowled by Nathan Ellis as a classical Babar Azam hit him for two FOURS in it. Pakistan seem to be accelerating as 22 runs have come in the past two overs.

    PAK 181/1 (27)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 9:37 PM

    150 Up For Pakistan

23.3 - Babar Azam gets a single and Pakistan have reached 150 runs. They are going really good in this chase. Despite losing Fakhar's wicket midway, they have scored at a decent rate. Imam-ul-Haq is well settled at the crease.

7 runs came off the over bowled by Adam Zampa.

    PAK 155/1 (24)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 9:13 PM

18.5 - That's a beauty from Marcus and Fakhar Zaman has been cleaned up. He departs on 67 off  64 bals.

It was a slower ball from Stoinis, Fakhar was not expecting it and to his bad luck, the ball spun and took the top of off stump.

    PAK 119/1 (19)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 8:51 PM

    FIFTY For Fakhar Zaman

14.2 - SIX down the ground and Fakhar Zaman gets to his 14th ODI fifty. This is a beautiful knock. He has been aggressive since the start of the innings and he will now look to score at a faster rate.

10 runs came off the over bowled by Travis Head.

    PAK 96/0 (15)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 8:36 PM

    Pakistan Look Solid

It's good from Pakistan as the opening partnership is growing. Fakhar Zaman is 40 not out, while Imam-ul-Haq is unbeaten on 25.

Adam Zampa has been brought into the attack now.

    PAK 66/0 (11)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 8:15 PM

    Decent Start From Pakistan

It's a decent beginning for Pakistan. They have not been too quick in the first 6 overs but have not lost any wicket meanwhile.

    PAK 32/0 (6)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 8:00 PM

    Second Innings Underway

Pakistan have started slow in the second innings. However, the first thing they would aim is to keep wickets for a couple of more overs and then unleash in the ongoing first powerplay.

    PAK 13/0 (3)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 7:31 PM

Australia Post 348/8 In 50 Overs

This is a really good total for Australia. They had given Pakistan a target of 314 runs in the first ODI and won it by 88 runs and would look to repeat their bowling performance here in the second game as well after the batters did a fairly good job.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 7:16 PM

    Wicket Again

Sean Abbott departs after a quick cameo of 28 runs off 16 balls.

    AUS 347/8 (49.4)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 7:12 PM

Marcus Stoinis falls on 49 off 33 balls but has already done his job. Shaheen Afridi gets the wicket.

    AUS 343/7 (49.1)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 7:07 PM

    Australia Finishing Well

33 runs have come in the last three overs. The most recent one that was bowled by Mohammad Wasim Jr gave away 14 runs to the visiting team. Apart from Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott is also playing a handy knock here.

    AUS 332/6 (48)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 6:53 PM

    Another Wicket

Cameron Green is out and Pakistan are bouncing back in this contest. Shaheen Afridi takes the wicket.

    AUS 301/6 (45.2)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 6:44 PM

Alex Carey departs after scoring 5 off 10 balls. Mohammad Wasim Jr gets the wicket.

    AUS 295/5 (43.2)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 6:28 PM

Marnus Labuschagne failed to clear the long-on fielder and departs after scoring 59 off 49 balls. Khushdil Shah gets the wicket.

    AUS 272/4 (40.2)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 6:25 PM

    10 More Overs Left

60 balls are still left in this innings and Australia must eye to set a target of around 350 for Pakistan. They have seven wickets in hand.

    AUS 271/3 (40)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 6:18 PM

    FIFTY For Labuschagne

37.2 - A FOUR at deep mid-wicket and Marnus Labuschagne races to his fourth ODI fifty. He gets there in just 41 balls. He has anchored the Australian innings beautifully since the departure of McDermott, however, there is still some work to be done.

9 runs came off the over bowled by Zahid Mahmood.

    AUS 258/3 (38)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 6:04 PM

Oh! Ben McDermott has been caught out off a full toss. Mohammad Wasim Jr failed to hit his mark but McDermott gifted him his wicket by hitting it into the hands of Haris Rauf at mid-on. Pakistan can have some respite now.

    AUS 237/3 (35)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 5:52 PM

    Century For McDermott

32.3 - A SIX straight down the ground and McDermott races to his maiden international ton. He gets there in 102 balls. The right-handed batter has looked really good today. He has scored all around the ground and he is still there at the crease. Danger ahead for Pakistan!

    AUS 231/2 (33)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 5:39 PM

    200 Up For Australia

29.1 – A single from Marnus Labuschagne and Australia have now raced to 200 runs. They have got there well before and will aim to capitalize on it.

7 runs came off the over bowled by Mohammad Wasim Jr.

    AUS 206/2 (30)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 5:29 PM

    Pakistan Need To Do Better

17 runs have come from the last two overs. This is not going to help Pakistan. They need to choke Australia for runs or the wicket of Travis Head will do no chance to their fortune.

    AUS 180/2 (27)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 5:19 PM

The pressure gets better of Travis Head and he walks back to the dugout with a handsome knock of 89 that came off just 70 balls. Zahid Mahmood claims the wicket.

Coming to the dismissal, Head tried to hit Mahmood for a biggie but top-edged the ball and Shaheen Afridi took the catch at short fine leg.

    AUS 163/2 (24.3)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 5:17 PM

    Tight Overs

Three runs have come off the last two overs. We might see a wicket or a hitting exhibition soon here because both Head and McDermott are not going to hold back.

    AUS 161/1 (24)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 5:08 PM

    Shaheen Leaks Runs

2, 6, 0, 4, 1, 1 - Shaheen Afridi was treated with utmost disdain and Head was the batsman to do so. Pakistan's pace spearhead got hit for 14 runs on his return to bowling and they are in serious trouble now.

    AUS 158/1 (22)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:58 PM

    1, 4, 1, 6, 1, 6 - Expensive Over

19 runs came off Iftikhar Ahmed's over. First, McDermott hit him for a FOUR on reverse-sweep, then Head tonked him for a SIX before McDermott hit it over the ropes on the last ball of the over. The spin is not working for Pakistan today.

    AUS 137/1 (20)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:47 PM

    FIFTY For McDermott

16.3 - SIX from Ben McDermott and he too races to his fifty, his second in ODIs. He had scored the first one in this series only. It was a 55 off 70 balls in the first ODI, but here he must look to convert the score into three digits.

7 runs came off the over bowled by Iftikhar Ahmed.

    AUS 107/1 (17)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:44 PM

    Australia In Control

This is a really good batting surface at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Pakistan need some quick wickets now or they will be chasing somewhere around 350 in the second innings for sure.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:41 PM

    FIFTY For Travis Head

15.5 - A single and Travis Head races to his 11th ODI fifty. He was impressive in the first ODI with his knock of 101 off 72 balls and continues the form here.

    AUS 100/1 (16)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:28 PM

    SIX Again

11.3 - Another short ball from Pakistan and Travis Head hits his second SIX of the game. Zahid Mahmood is the bowler.

10 runs came off the over and both the Australian batters (Head and McDermott) are looking dangerous here.

    AUS 81/1 (12)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:22 PM

    Good Start For Australia

This is really good batting performance from Australia so far. They had lost Aaron Finch when the team's score was just one run, but positive intent from the Head-McDermott pair sees them in a better position now.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:19 PM

    Another SIX

9.3 - Short ball from Haris Rauf to Travis Head and the ball says 'tata-tata, bye-bye' as the Australian southpaw deposits it into the stands over deep square leg.

A total of 12 runs came off the over and Australia are dictating the game now.

    AUS 65/1 (10)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:16 PM

    Back-to-back Fours

Ben McDermott is looking really dangerous today. He is now batting on 30 off 32 with the help of 5 fours and a six.

    AUS 53/1 (9)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 4:09 PM

6.5 - It was a bit short from Shaheen Afridi and McDermott didn't shy away from pulling it over backward square leg for a SIX. This is confident batting. McDermott was the leading run-scorer in BBL 2021-22 and he is now showing his batting class at the highest level.

    AUS 33/1 (7)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:56 PM

    Expensive Over

9 runs came off the last over that was bowled by Shaheen Afridi. First, Travis Head hit him for a FOUR and then gave the strike to Ben McDermott, who too hit a boundary on the last ball of the over.

    AUS 23/1 (5)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:44 PM

    Vigilant Australia

No run came off the second over of the innings that was bowled by Haris Rauf. Australia need a good partnership here, let's see if Shaheen lets them stitch one.

    AUS 6/1 (2)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:34 PM

    Early Wicket

Aaron Finch is gone for a golden duck. It was a full toss from Shaheen, had bit of swing in it, and Finch got struck on the front pad. He started walking to the dugout without even caring about umpire's decision. What a start for Pakistan this is! Shaheen proves his worth yet again.

    AUS 1/1 (0.3)

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:31 PM

    It's Game Time

Travis Head and Aaron Finch come out to open Australia's innings. Hasan Ali makes place for Shaheen Afridi and no surprise, the left-arm pacer will bowl the first over. Here wo go!

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:19 PM

    Deja Vu?

Pakistan had won the toss in first ODI as well and opted to bowl first. They eventually lost the game by 88 runs. They have again won the toss and once again opted to bowl first. Will the result too remain same?

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:14 PM

    Playing XIs

Australia: Aaron Finch(c), Travis Head, Ben McDermott, Marnus Labuschagne, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey(w), Cameron Green, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Swepson

Pakistan: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam(c), Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan(w), Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Zahid Mahmood

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 3:04 PM

    Pakistan Opt To Bowl

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has won the toss and opted to bowl first against Australia in the second ODI.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 2:33 PM

The last time Pakistan beat Australia in a ODI match at Lahore was in 1998. The game was technically a tie, with both sides scoring 229, but Pakistan were awarded the win because they lost one fewer wicket, according to ESPNCricinfo.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 2:33 PM

Pakistan's leading fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is a doubtful starter. He had hurt his knee while batting in the nets before the first ODI. Hasan Ali is a good back-up for Babar Azam's team.

  • 31 Mar 2022 / 2:31 PM

A defeat in the ODIs versus Australia will hurt Pakistan's chances of qualifying for the ODI World Cup in India next year tougher. In the World Cup Super League cycle, only Zimbabwe and the Netherlands have fewer matches than Pakistan, who may end up playing the qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
