India won the second T20I by 16 runs despite the heroics from Quinton de Kock (69 not out) and Davild Miller (106 not out) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati to clinch the series 2-0 with a match to go. Rohit Sharma also became the first Indian captain to win a T20I series on home soil against the Proteas. Despite losing the toss, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma started off brightly as the South African pacers failed to hit the perfect lengths. Suryakumar Yadav alongside Virat Kohli ensured India reached a formidable 237/3 in 20 overs. In reply, the visitors lost captain Temba Bavuma and Rille Roussow cheaply before an unbeaten 174-run fourth wicket stand between QDK and Miller lit up the night sky.
