Three As And A Dance Routine

What happens when three Bollywood superstars get on the stage and shake a leg? The crowd goes wild. That is exactly what happened at the IIFA awards in Amsterdam last Saturday. It was Abhishek Bachchan’s debut performance on the international stage which saw him shaking a leg to songs from his recent film Bunty Aur Babli and giving him company on the stage were Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. The Big B decided to make a dramatic entry on the stage—he rode in on a bicycle.

Samosas In Britain

Perween Warsi, an immigrant to Britain from Bihar, made great samosas, and then she decided to multiply the greatness. She set up five samosa factories with a turnover of more than £100 million, making her the wealthiest Asian woman in Britain. Apparently, “jab tak Britain mein Warsi rahegi, tab tak yahan par samosa rahega”. Question is, will Britain’s samosa queen outlast Bihar’s samosa man?

Item girl, Ahoy!

There are item girls and then there are item girls. After Malaika Arora, there has been a spate of item girls cavorting on the silver screen, but not many have made it big. Now, here’s another pretty young, curvaceous lass with dreams of making it big in the film world following in Malaika’s footsteps. Meet Divyaa Dwivedi who’s just finished shooting an item number for upcoming film Hot Money Paisa. Amid all the tons of shaking flesh, where will she stand?

This Butterfly Stings

She is like her father: tauntingly effective, athletic, powerful and beginning to seem invincible. On Monday, Laila Ali, daughter of legendary pugilist Muhammad Ali, pounded her opponent Erin Toughill into submission in just three rounds. The eighth of Ali’s nine kids, Laila impressed her father with her skill. After the fight, Ali, who was at the ringside, said, “She’s bad. It runs in the family.” Now, was that acknowledgement or chastisement? No matter what, this is one girl you don’t want to make angry.

Steel That Swims

Steel baron Lakshmi N. Mittal wants the best and the biggest for himself. At least that’s what one infers on hearing that the tycoon may be in talks to buy the biggest luxury yacht—The Rising Sun—from its present owner, Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison. Though there are bigger models currently in design, The Rising Sun is 138 metres long and worth $200 million. Mittal has apparently been shown around the ship thrice and rumour has it that either he’s going to buy it or he’s going to get a larger one built for himself. As one wag put it, “Mittal’s into the biggest, brightest, brashest.”

Elsewhere

Clueless star Alicia Silverstone has left millions of her male fans heartbroken by tying the knot with her musician boyfriend Christopher Jarecki. The couple exchanged their nuptials barefoot at Lake Tahoe, Nevada beach, in front of 135 guests.
