To See A Hero

The tradition of fans thronging Amitabh’s gates on Sundays started in 1982, when Coolie delivered a body blow to the Big B. Thirty-three years on, it continues to be a ritual, acknowledged at a podium.

A Household in Attendance

He did time in Bollywood and became a star. He also acted in films like Shakespearewallah. Shashi Kapoor won the Dadasaheb Phalke and was greeted by an encircling bevy—Wahe­eda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Rekha, Neetu Singh and Supriya Pathak. Whew, what a cast!

Another honour for our dear departed founding editor Vinod Mehta—G.K. Reddy Memorial Award. It was received by Sumita Mehta (centre) from Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi recently. Also present are Manmohan Singh, Karan Singh, T. Subbarami Reddy.
