It was humorous and pathetic to watch the bahu of India, the charismatic president of the oldest party representing the legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi family, running from pillar to post in search of a safe constituency (A Shelter from the Rain, August 30). Sonia’s plight was aptly described by one TDP MLA thus: “She has taken off from Hyderabad but was not sure where to land.” It’s but poetic justice that Sonia, who earlier thought of fielding either Amitabh Bachchan or Sanjay Dutt from Gandhinagar to oppose L.K. Advani, has herself run for her life from Cuddapah fearing Vijayashanti, another celluloid heavyweight.
