    Instead of engaging in enlightened public debate, which requires substantial homework, Opposition MPs find it easier to disrupt Parliament since it attracts greater media attention (Empty as the Wind, Dec 12). Where is the need for protests when the states have the freedom to say no to foreign retailers? In a country where 60 per cent of the people depend on agriculture and suffer from high prices and shortages, and where 40 per cent of the farm produce goes waste for want of an effective supply chain, air-conditioning and transportation, it is strange that so many parties have ganged up against this farmer-friendly move.
