It is quite simple. Most of Hindu diaspora consists of upper castes. They follow there own tribes. So in west respect for minority rights is good for their tribe. So they support minority rights. In India upper castes are dominant. So they support what suits their tribe.
There is a difference in the type of minorities here. In India the base of the minority is religion. While in the western world discrimination of minorities is based on race, culture, skin colour, etc. And political parties like BjP ans organisations like RSS have instilled a fear of existence in the minds of Hindus abroad or at home. They forget the troubles of minority community because they think it is a matter of survival.

True, but when a professor/expert on conflict and peace can't figure out why, the commoners find it even more perplexing, and can't figure it out.. most withdraw, many join in while a few do protest.. But the rulers are blatant with their agendas, the opposition week and the majority janta too scared..Having innumerable problems of their own..But even among the diaspora, are many protestors as we saw in the US and UK..
Hindu minority in the west are discriminated due to racial or ethnic reasons whereas hindutvawadis in india hate or discriminate minoroties, m as inly muslims because of historical reasons, mostly percieved notions of injustices meted out to them in the past.
