Ms. Nalini Natarajan (author), able to draw a line with the differing views of women bodies between matriarchy and patriarchy. And, she could delve deep into Bhagavata Purana. However, she could not grasp how Mr. Muruganantham's invention secured him a space in the list of TIME's the 100 most influential people of the world in 2014. And, she completely ignores, 'Period. End of Sentence', a Muruganantham's documentary film that has been shortlisted for the Oscar finals (out of 104 entries). Not to mention the source and the purpose of the movie, 'PAD MAN'. May be, Ms. Natarajan should go back to school to learn true journalism.
In fact, OUTLOOK would not have dreamed on the cover page title, "Issue of the Year: Menstruation" without Muruganantham's creative invention for the society, at large. It is said that Muruganantham is appreciated more outside India than within India. A magazine like OUTLOOK proves that point. It is a shame. A job well done, Ruben Banerjee!
"No point in inching towards becoming SUPER POWER when the MEDIEVAL MINDSET is dragging us back."
My recent visit to South India ancient temples at located at various cities convinced me that only Hindus are allowed to visit inside these holy places. It is clearly indicating that the culture, morality and religion faith are highly respected and honoured by the custodians of these temples. Further, it is very well evident that mensurating women are themselves are avoiding to go to the temples with faith that it may impure the sanctity of holy places. The invasion of judiciary into ancient ritual, customary and faith of religion should be discouraged. In addition, the chaos, nuisances and demostrations around sabrimala temples should be stopped. Moreover, it is happending due to political fire and instigation.
