Santiment, the on-chain analytics provider, witnessed a selling spree by the crypto holders even at a loss suggesting weak sentiments in the market. Bitcoin prices have dropped by around 15 per cent since mid of April this year.
But, Bitcoin is never out of focus whether it is down or up. This time, the Space Pepes, a bitcoin-based non-fungible token (NFT) project, kept Bitcoin in the spotlight because the NFT collection surpassed the popular NFT projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club regarding weekly volume.
Also, Ordinals, an arbitrary data embedding method on Bitcoin's smallest unit Satoshis, is significantly impacting the NFT landscape. Through Ordinals, the data, such as audio, video, and text, could be embedded into Satoshis.
So far, Ethereum has been used as the preferred blockchain platform for NFTs, due to the liquidity it offers, compared to other blockchains such as Solana, etc. But with Ordinals on Bitcoin and Bitcoin's history and market value, NFTs inscribed on its blockchain would give competition to the Ethereum-based NFTs.
At the same time, Nike launched its first NFT on its platform SWOOSH Web3. In addition, it has launched a sneaker NFT collection. Nike's NFT launch experienced several delays due to technical and other issues, but its virtual collection generated more than $1 million in sales after launch.
