Disney layoffs 2023 are reportedly here once again, this time for a third round of job cuts. As per a report, the Bog Iger-led Disney is cutting some more jobs and notifying impacted employees this week.
According to a CNN report, this round of Disney layoffs have impacted more than 2,500 employees. However, this round of job cuts at Disney is also anticipated to be the last significant round of layoffs, previously announced by Iger.
As Disney layoffs continue in line with February’s announcement by Iger, this time, it is not known that which departments/divisions will be affected by job cuts. Before this, Disney laid off close to 4,000 employees in March and April. These rounds of job cuts reportedly impacted people at ESPN, Disney’s entertainment division, Disney Parks and so on.
Disney’s CEO Bog Iger, in February, announced that the media and entertainment giant would be trimming close to 7,000 jobs from its global workforce in three rounds. The report adds that the undertaking was aimed at saving $5.5 billion in costs.
The report also adds that this latest round of Disney layoffs “is expected to bring the total number of job cuts to more than 6,500, approaching the 7,000 figure previously announced by Iger. As of October 1, Disney had 2,20,000 employees – making the 7,000-person reduction about 3% of its global workforce.”
