IT major Cognizant has appointed Ravi Kumar S as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after the company’s Board of Directors gave their nod. Ravi Kumar S, a member of the Board at Cognizant and known for his former stint at Infosys, succeeds Brian Humphries as the CEO.
As per the official release, Kumar’s appointment has been into effect on an immediate basis. But in order to facilitate a smooth transition, Humphries will act as Special Advisor to Cognizant until March 15, 2023.
Ravi Kumar S, most famous for his vibrant tenure at Infosys, served the company for 20 years in different leadership roles. As the former President of Infosys from January 2016 to October 2022, Kumar led the Infosys Global Services Organisation across all global industry segments. This included driving digital transformation services, engineering services, data and analytics, cloud and infrastructure and so on.
Apart from Kumar’s appointment as the new CEO, Cognizant has also announced that Stephen J. Rohleder, a Board member, has been elected as the Chair of the Board. At this point, the former Chair Michael Patsalos-Fox will also remain on the Board, but as an independent director.
In addition to this, Cognizant has also announced that Surya Gummadi will be the new President of Cognizant Americas, after holding the position on an interim basis since July 2022. At one point, he was also the SVP of Cognizant Health Sciences business segment.
