Apple Inc. is reportedly reordering management of its international businesses to give more emphasis to India. This move will result in India becomeing its own sales region at Apple for the very first time. Additionally, this shift will also mark county’s importance within the tech behemoth.

As per Bloomberg report, the tech giant has promoted Ashish Chowdhary as head of India. Prior to this, Hugues Asseman headed the Middle East, Mediterranean, East Europe and Africa. Ashish Chowdhary will now answer directly to Michael Fenger, Apple’s head of product sales.

The most recent adjustments will modify Apple's management structure, but not the way it reports regional sales in its public financial results.

Even though Apple’s total sales went down by 5 per cent, the company had record revenue in India in its last quarter. Apple’s chief executive officer Tim Cook compared the present state in India to China in its former years and commented that company is putting “a lot of emphasis on the market.” “We are, in essence, taking what we learned in China years ago and how we scale to China and bringing that to bear,” he added.

China being Apple’s biggest sales region after the Americas and Europe generates around $75 billion per year for the company.
