After back-to-back controversies, the Uttar Pradesh government has declared the ‘The Kerala Story’ will be tax-free in the state. Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced about the decisions, just days after Madhya Pradesh too, made the movie tax-free.
As per updates, UP CM’s secretariat also said, “Adityanath could watch the film along with his cabinet colleagues at a special screening to be organised at Lok Bhawan.” The move becomes significant as ‘The Kerala Story’ has been gripped in many controversies.
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan too, last week, said in a video message that ‘The Kerala Story’ has been declared ‘tax-free’ in the state. He said, “The film shows how the (life of) daughters who get entangled in the trap of love jihad get destroyed. It also exposes the design of terrorism.”
However, even as Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh aid the viewership of ‘The Kerala Story,’ states like West Bengal have banned the film. The state’s chief minister Mamata Banerjee, on Monday, ordered an immediate ban on the screening of ‘The Kerala Story.’
So far, the film has received mixed reactions from different people but undoubtedly, has become a topic of controversies. Interestingly, ‘The Kerala Story’ has also been referred to in the campaigns for Karnataka elections and also reportedly received support from several BJP leaders.
