Gurgaon, 13th February: - In a bid to arm India with future high quality Cyber Defenders, WhizHack Technologies, India’s first vertically integrated cyber security company held its first Cyber Security convention in Gurgaon for creating a community of ethical hackers. The convention saw a gathering of India’s top minds in Cyber security, WhizHack’s alumni and top performers of the current batch of students addressing the next generation of students and professionals.
Industry stalwarts and the Whizhack team gave presentations on a range of cyber security topics and showcased technical presentations and demonstrations on specific threats. Deserving students of the current batch who have attained different levels of proficiency in cyber security skills were designated to mentor and inspire millions of other young adults to join this burgeoning community.
Speaking about the convention, Mr. Somnath Banerjee, CISO, WhizHack Technologies said, "Our main aim for this convention was to provide an opportunity to students, young professionals, educators and trainers who are interested in the field of cyber security to understand and gain industry insights with the amalgamation of knowledge and experience from India’s top cybersecurity leaders and our alumni who are young professionals now with an upward trajectory. Hackers usually work in silos, the objective for this event is to develop a community for young defenders. The existing students & the prospective students got a wider exposure to the current cyber security challenges, they could broaden their perspective of the field and gained insights into how to enter the field upon completion of their certification courses and most importantly engage in knowledge sharing which is rare in this extremely dynamic field- a dichotomy which we are trying to course correct”.
He added, “India is a repository of talent as far as Cyber security goes. Despite rampant layoffs and job cuts in recent times, Cyber Security is the only profession that can boast of a 100 percent employment rate. Not only that, the industry is growing at an exponential rate at the face of complex threats on critical infrastructure. This is perhaps the only field where supply of manpower is falling short of demand, Cyber Security is a recession proof industry. Now is the time for us to get self-reliant, reduce our dependence on foreign products and mindless outsourcing”.
With years of experience and application of his skills working in the cyber security sector, Mr. Somnath Banerjee gave a thought-provoking talk to delve into reimaging cyber security as a career option for students across different educational backgrounds. The formal presentations were followed by a social event, giving students the opportunity to network with graduates and the guest presenters.
