It started with a front-page report in the Hindu's Delhi edition today:

The story still happens to be on the Hindu's website: Ramdev Claims Cure For Ebola.

The report was met with expected derision on social media, and Twitter, particularly, with Ramdev's claims to 'cure homosexuality' recalled.

But then senior journalist Shekhar Gupta too shared his scepticism, leading to the following exchange:

The Hindu's report which still remains on their website, it turns out, was based on the above site—ramdevmedicine.com/—mentioned by Ramdev, against which he has threatened legal action.

The site is at present not accessible, but a Google cache of the page shows:

While the website also apparently carried a disclaimer, it seems to have been ignored by the Hindu while reporting:

Meanwhile, the Hindu also did a follow-up on its Ramdev story and asked an unnamed official of the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry about

'Baba Ramdev’s controversial claim that Ebola can be prevented through the use of his “health package'.

It quoted the official as saying:

“As on date there is no evidence to prove that there are medicines that can cure Ebola.”

An official response from them is awaited.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Mr Gupta added:

We'll save the last word for Dhaakad Tau, who put it all in perspective:
