A Great Dane starved to death on the streets of Chennai after it was abandoned by its owner.
The gentle giant, bound by a chain, was found emaciated, breathing it last near Royapuram on Friday.
The cruelty came to light when somebody informed Shravan Krishnan, the founder of Hotel For Dogs, which help in adoption of stray dogs and cats.
He said the dog was so weak that it died as soon as we lifted it and placed in a car to be taken for treatment.
Sharvan wrote on his Facebook page: “Abandoning your dog is the biggest betrayal you could ever do.”
“This not how a life should end.”
In India, animals rights are a joke due to laws that don’t bite back.
Recently, a medical student in Chennai was caught on camera throwing a dog off the terrace. Luckily, the dog survived and is in better hands.
And in Hyderabad, eight boys aged between 10 and 17 were arrested for setting puppies on fire.
