Veteran Bollywood actor-writer-director Satish Kaushik - remembered as 'Calendar' in the film ‘Mr. India’ - passed away at 67 late on Wednesday. His friend and another actor Anupam Kher shared the news in a tweet early Thursday. 

Kher captioned the post, "I know "death is the ultimate truth of this world!" But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend Satish Kaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti! (broken heart emojis)."

Since his untimely demise, Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar, Kangana Ranaut, Madhur Bhandarkar, Manoj Bajpayee, Farah Khan and others have expressed their grief and paid heartfelt condolences to Kaushik, who died following a heart attack.

Salman Khan wrote, "Always loved, cared n respected him n shall alway remember him for the man that he was. May his soul rest in peace and strength to family and loved ones... #RIP Satish Ji".

Priyanka Chopra tweeted, "Om shanti Satish sir. Papa and you will be talking and laughing as you always did. You will be very missed. Thank you for bringing so much laughter into our lives. Sending love, prayers and strength to the family."

Varun Dhawan shared a picture and wrote, "RIP salesman ramlal #satishkaushik."

Bhumi Pednekar wrote on her Instagram stories, "RIP sir. This is so heartbreaking. Your legacy lives on. My condolences to his family, friends and fans. #SatishKaushik."

Karan Johar shared on Instagram, "This is the saddest and extremely shocking news to wake up to... Such a solid actor and immensely gracious and kind man... RIP sir... this is a grave loss to our cinema and fraternity."

Ali Fazal, who celebrated Holi with the late actor a day before his death, got emotional as he paid his tribute.

Kangana shared a picture featuring herself and Satish Kaushik and wrote, "Woke up to this horrible news, he was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor and director Satish Kaushik ji personally was also a very kind and genuine man, I loved directing him in Emergency. He will be missed, Om Shanti."

Manoj Bajpayee reacted by saying, "Completely shocked to read this! What a great loss for all of us and his family! Condolences to his family and friends! May you rest in peace Satish Bhai (brother)!"

Madhur Bhandarkar posted a photo with Satish and wrote, "I am so shocked to hear the demise of actor-director Satish Kaushik ji, who was always vibrant, energetic and full of life, he will be missed immensely by the film fraternity and millions of admires. My deepest condolences to his family members. Om Shanti (folded hands emoji) @satishkaushik2."

Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan re-shared a post, and wrote, "Too sudden and too sad..the kindest, happiest man." 

Actor Soni Razdan tweeted, "Sad beyond belief at this tragic news." Soni also shared a post and wrote, "Shocked and heartbroken to hear our contemporary @satishkaushik2 is no more. Many of us met him for the first time while we were shooting Mandi. He was a jolly gentle soul always laughing. It’s very hard to believe he’s gone. RIP dear Satish, we will miss you terribly."

Actor Arbaaz Khan shared a series of pictures on Twitter with the late actor, and his brothers Salman Khan and Sohail Khan. He wrote, "RIP Satish ji. You will be missed. Om Shanti."

Subhash Ghai wrote, "It’s just heart-shattering news for me that we lost our one best friend #DEAR SATISH - a man who always laughed even in worst crisis and stood by anyone in his crisis “ A great artiste. Greater human being greatest friend I know. He left us so sudden so soon. I m sad. All at @whistling_woods @muktaartsltd @muktaa2cinemas Om shanti."

Sonu Sood said: "When I came to Mumbai, Satish ji was the first director I met. He was so warm and humble. Gave a few lessons of life that will always stay with me. RIP SIR. Will miss u always."

Abhishek Bachchan penned a heartfelt note by saying, "Shocked to hear of the passing of our beloved Satish Kaushik ji. A most gentle, kind and loving person. Always happy and smiling. A huge loss to our industry. Rest in peace dearest Satish uncle. We will all miss you."

Kaushik, who was born on April 13, 1956, was last seen at Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi's Holi party in Mumbai, being his usual smiling self.
