Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are excited to be part of Sunburn Goa yet again as the first few headliners of the festival this year. With an underlying theme of ‘The Future Is Now’, Sunburn Goa 2022 will showcase a spectacular three-day live event imbibing the best of electronic dance music, state-of-the-art technology, and high-octane entertainment from December 28 to December 30 at Vagator, Goa and the duo says that it’s been really a great experience collaborating with Asia’s Premiere Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Festival.
In this interview, they give a sneak peek of their performance and how they see the music industry, especially the interest in EDM in India.

Q. How excited are you for Sunburn goa this year and what will be the USP of this edition?

It just feels good to be back. Seeing the fans, playing all the new music we’ve been working on and getting back to how life was before the lockdown began. We have a lot of music made specifically for our shows, so it’s exciting to see what the fans’ reaction will be to the new material.
Q. What are you performing and any special treats for the Indian audience?
We have had a chance to spend a lot of time working on new music, during the lockdown and since, so fans can expect a lot of fresh sounds and tracks. It’s going to be an insane show.

Q. We have often heard Sunburn also grabbing the wrong headlines in the recent past, how as a performer such news impact you especially when you have been part of the fest for so long?
We have had a long connection with India. The first time we played here was more than a decade ago. Going from clubs to being a regular feature at one of Asia’s biggest electronic music festivals. It’s been an exciting evolution for us. The fans at Sunburn are some of the most insane so this is going to be a wild show. We’re super excited about how this party is going to go down! It’s always an incredible experience and we are happy to be back. India will always hold a special place in our hearts! We can’t wait to party with all of our fans then.
Q. Would you like to talk about the music scene and what are the most prominent trends coming from the EDM music industry that you felt extremely proud about?
The scene has become a lot fairer. There’s much more equality across the scene within the community, which is only ever a good thing because it’s a scene built on love and unity. EDM continues to prove itself as one of the major musical movements in the world, now saddled against rock, pop, and hip-hop. This trend will only continue to grow.
Q. Any association with Indian music artists in days to come for you as we see many artists from India and the west associating for music? Any plans for Bollywood?
We’re always open to new collaborations with artists from all cultures because we love the fusion of new ideas and bringing in local music flavors to mix everything up. We have nothing lined up for the future, but it could be a lot of fun to do something with Indian musicians and that distinctive sound. That would be cool! We know of AR Rahman, Zakir Hussain, and Anoushka Shankar, but yeah, being in a movie could be fun. As some fans will know, acting is already a career I’m pursuing. I’ve just had my first lead role in the movie H4Z4RD, which followed an appearance in the final installment of Jurassic World Dominion. So, it could be a cool project. I’m also pretty close with Salman Khan, who is an amazing guy, so I hope one day I can feature in one of his movies!
Q. Finally, how much of you all see the influence of the west on the Indian music scene?

Artists draw inspiration from one another, and the culture and music of every country are special and inspire artists all across the world. It’s more inclusive than ever! We too draw a lot of inspiration from our travels and the crowd interactions when we travel.
