Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’, which was released in 2022, is considered to be one of the biggest Hindi hits of the year. The Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer was the first part of a trilogy and while the first film took almost seven years to make, the audience will not have to wait that long for the second part.

Director Ayan Mukerji recently mentioned that he will be shooting Part 2 and 3 simultaneously, and the writing process is still underway.

“We will make Brahmastra 2 and 3 together. The truth is we are going to take a little bit of time to write it. I know there’s a lot of anticipation,” he said at News 18 Rising India Summit 2023, adding, “People want the (second part of the film) film to come out. But first, we have to write it without compromising it. I think it will be about three years from now before we see Brahmastra 2 on the big screen.” He also mentioned that ‘Brahmastra 2’ will tentatively release in 2026.

When questioned about the criticism that ‘Brahmastra’ received, and how it managed to shut down the trolls with “really good numbers”, Ayan quipped, “We did get some mixed reactions. We still did really good numbers. A lot of people accepted our film. It also did well when it came out on streaming,” adding, “But I still hear that criticism very clearly.”

Further talking about the criticism, he said, “The thing is, I accept and agree with some of it. Some of that criticism came down to some aspects related to the writing and story of Brahmastra. I want to understand these things and make part two better.”
