Hindu Yuva Vahini, a right wing youth organisation founded by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has courted controversy yet again when members of the group allegedly barged into a house in Meerut and draggedout a couple, accusing them of 'love jihad'.

While the woman was released after warning, the man, who is a resident of Muzaffarnagar, was booked on charges of obscenity, they said.

Narendra Singh Tomar, the head of the Hindu Yuva Vahini in wester Uttar Pradesh reportedly told the ANI, "I have asked the police to take strict action as the Muslim boy was romancing with a Hindu girl in the house. He wanted to convert her religon. I also insist to take strict action against the landlords, who give rooms on rent without proper verification."

According to Times Now, the couple was also taken to the police station for indulging in 'immoral activities'.

However, a report by the Hindustan Times has quoted  Alok Priyadarshi,  the superintendent of police saying that both the man and his 'girlfriend' were muslims.

Citing the police, the report says that the man called his “girlfriend” to his rented room in Meerut's Shastri Nagaron Tuesday. 'But local residents informed Hindu Vahini leaders Sachin Gupta and Nagendra Tomar who arrived with a big gang of members and pushed their way into the room, finding the couple in a compromising position.'

Ever since the BJP won a mammoth victory in the most populous state in this year's Assembly Elections, the party with Yogi Adityanath at its helm has intensified 'Hindutva' causes like  'Love Jihad' and 'Ghar Vapasi' which are one of the topmost priorities of the saffron party.

The party has accused young Muslim men of luring Non Muslim girls and converting them to Islam by feigning love, naming the supposed 'activity' love jihad.

Early this month, members of the Vahini force forced the police to hault a prayer meeting  in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj, alleging forced conversion.
