Amidst a political turmoil in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK general secretary Sasikala Natrajan addressed her supporters at Poes garden residence on Monday.

Slamming party's care-taker chief minister Panneerselvam for standing against her, Natrajan said that his true colours can be seen now and that attempts to divide the party will not succeed.

"Panneerselvam asked me to take charge then, but I said I can't at this juncture. So Panneerselvam was given responsibility," said Sasikala.

She alleged that there was a political conspiracy hatched after Amma's death. Sasikala said that despite going through pain she stood firm.

Sasikala added, "We have seen 1000 such 'Panneerselvams'. For the past 33 years, we both have seen everything. So I am not scared."

Earlier in the day, Panneerselvam arrived at the state Secretariat to hold talks with senior officials. It was his first visit to the Secretariat after his resignation on February 5 and being asked by Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to continue till alternative arrangements are made.

On Sunday, with five more MLAs crossing over to her rival faction, AIADMK supremo V K Sasikala indicated that she had the support of 129 legislators as she invoked the legacy of her predecessor to drive home the point of staying united and ensure more electoral victories in the future.

In her address to the MLAs staying put at a nearby resort here, she said the legislators supporting her were like an "ocean". "You 129 MLAs are like an ocean. None can contain it by building a check dam. No efforts will destabilise this government. None can hurt us and there is no need to fear," she said.

She had also observed that it was "very difficult" to be a woman in politics, said there were efforts to "intimidate" her as she was a woman, but asserted that she would not be cowed down.
