When Artvoice, a weekly newspaper in upstate New York, asked different people about their new year wish for 2017 for a year-end feature it published on Friday, many of the respondents had many things in their mind such as ‘mindless shopping,’ ‘ISIS removed from this earth,’ and so on. However, a Donald Trump ally had a completely different thing in his mind, which has taken everyone by shock and anger.
Carl Paladino, a western New York builder, one-time Republican candidate for governor of New York and political ally of President-elect Donald J. Trump, ignited widespread outrage as he took this opportunity to make racial comments against US President Barack Obama and the first lady Michelle Obama.

When asked, What would you most like to happen in 2017, Paladino said, “Obama catches mad cow disease after being caught having relations with a Herford," adding, He dies before his trial and is buried in a cow pasture next to Valerie Jarret, who died weeks prior, after being convicted of sedition and treason, when a Jihady cell mate mistook her for being a nice person and decapitated her.”
To a question, what would you like to see go away in 2017, he replied, “Michelle Obama," adding, "I’d like her to return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla.”

There have been several instances in the past where the Obamas faced racist comments. Michelle Obama was once called an “ape in heels” by a West Virginia official. Donald Trump’s presidential campaign was widely criticised for being racist in nature.
Paladino’s comments have invited sharp reactions from various quarters.
