The central government has made Aadhaar card mandatory to avail around 36 schemes for now and it has also assured that everyone will get the biometric identity by June 30.

"Seventy-five percent of children between five and 18 years of age have Aadhaar in states where it is being made mandatory. Almost every adult in the country has an Aadhaar," a top government official told The Economic Times.

He also said that children who do not have an Aadhaar will be enrolled by their schools itself for the same by June 30 . It will ensure that no child is denied a midday meal by states or they being made to run around for it. It will be same for the 30-odd other schemes.
