Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad has written a letter to aviation minister 'conveying his regrets' on the incident due to which he was barred from flying by airlines.

In the letter, the MP wrote," It could have no one's intention to have let the situation aggravate to the level that it eventually did.

" While the on-going investigation will bring out the factual sequence of events to fix responsibility, this incident may kindly not seen be a reason for likely recurrence of such an event in future also."

In the Lok Sabha, Gaikwad said he had only shoved the Air India employee when he insulted MPs, adding, "I apologise to parliament but not to the officer (read Air India manager)."
Shiv Sena MPs cheered him during his speech where Gaikwad described himself as gentle.

Gaikwad, the Osmanabad MP, had last month abused and assaulted a 60-year-old duty manager of the national carrier with slippers for not being able to fly business class despite having boarded an all-economy Pune-New Delhi flight. Following which he was banned  from flying.
