Police On The Trail Of BJP 'Activist' For Sending Lewd Messages To Party Member Shaina NC

The police are on the trail of a BJP ‘activist’ from Varanasi, Jayantkumar Singh, who is suspected of sending vulgar messages to party member Shaina NC.

The Times Of India report says the police have identified the man.

Last month, Shaina, had lodged a complaint with the police after she received obscene messages. The texts began as harmless ones, the police told the newspaper, but gradually assumed a more lewd tone. The police have registered a case for outraging the modesty of a woman and have included sections of the IT act.

“I’m really surprised as to how the accused has been sending me such dirty messages,” she told the newspaper. “I wonder what happens to common women. There would be several such Romeos and not every woman may dare to lodge a complaint. My purpose of lodging a complaint against such a rowdy person is to teach him a lesson as also to tell other women in society that they should speak up,” she reportedly said.

The BJP functionary also said that she would set up a helpline through her father’s NGO which would offer legal help to women who have been targeted by such obscenities.

Earlier, 40-year-old Deepak Kumar Gupta from Jalgaon, Maharashtra, was arrested for allegedly sending lewd texts to 12 politicians including Shiv Sena MLA Neelam Gorhe and another female MLC from the NCP.
