Terming the BSF’s court martial decision to dismiss her husband from service as a ‘big mistake’ by the government, Jawan Tej Bahadur’s wife asked “would any mother in the country dare send their sons to join the forces?”

In a short selfie video posted on social media, Bahadur’s wife Sharmila Devi said that her husband had taken this step (to take onto social media) for all jawans.

“He took this step for all jawans and showed his food plate to the country. After this, Will any mother send their sons to the forces?” she asked.

“What crime did he commit that he has been dismissed after 20 years of service? The government wanted to dishonor him and the government has done a big mistake,” she said.

A three-month long disciplinary proceedings  led to the dismissal of Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav, who complained of being served poor quality food and dal at a remote, ’sensitive’ post. The court martial concluded on Tuesday April 18 and the ruling and sentence were announced on Wednesday April 19.

The jawan has been sentenced to dismissal from service which will have a impact on his several years of service while he was on the brink of retirement.

In what has been decided as a breach of service rules, Yadav had posted a video on social media criticising the quality of the food served to jawans. He had also accused senior officers of corruption, blaming it for the poor quality rations served to jawans. The said video was made at a ‘sensitive’ post near the Line of Control in Kashmir.
