A warden at a residential school in Muzaffarnagar has been suspended after she asked 70 students to strip naked to check for menstrual blood.
According to ANI, the students had demanded strict action against her and the Uttar Pradesh government has also stepped in.
A CNN News 18 report mentions that families of the girls studying at Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School were up in arms over the incident. The warden is said to have rounded the girls up and threatened them with a beating if they did not comply.
A student told the news channel that the warden had come across blood in the bathroom. The student says that the warden then asked the girls to remove their clothes, telling the channel that the episode was “humiliating” and that they wanted action against her.

The warden has denied the incident but the news channel quotes her as saying: “I wanted to check if everything was all right with the girls. Such young girls are sometimes unable to express... I just asked them if anything was wrong.”
She reportedly said that the girls did not quite like her since she is “strict” when it comes to their studies, and added that they were conspiring with other staff members who wanted to see her go.
