"Modi Ji aate hain, 2-3 vayede kar jaate hain, chunav ke baad bhul jaate hain. Jahan bhi jaate hain, kuch na kuch galat vayeda karke chale jaate hain", Congress President Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a rally in Tripura's Kailashahar on the last day of campaigning on Friday.

Gandhi’s visit comes a day after Modi’s election rally in the state where he accused the Manik Sarkar government of blocking development in the state and called for “uprooting” the Communists. He also charged at the Congress party in Tripura saying that the “Congress is fighting the elections in name only.”

Gandhi will also address a public meeting at Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya Stadium ground in Tripura’s Unakoti district.

Former Assam chief minister and Congress leader Tarun Gogoi also accused BJP of making 'broken promises' to the state.

"In Assam they promised a separate Bodoland – where is this separate state? Even with the Naga accord, the agreement is empty, it has no substance. They will do the same here and you must be careful. There will be no peace and tranquillity left in the state," Gogoi quoted as saying.

Earlier this week, senior Congress leaders including Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy, former Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan, and former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat  also addressed election rallies in Tripura.

The Congress is seeking to oust the Manik Sarkar-led CPI-M government in the north-eastern state. While Sarkar has been the chief minister of the state since 1998, his party the CPI-M has been in power in Tripura since 1993.
